Au départ, un dialogue patient entre la chorégraphe Joanne Leighton et Hae-Sun Kang, violoniste « muse » de Pierre Boulez. Puis rapidement, l’envie de collaborer. A l’arrivée, un projet triangulaire qui conjuguera danse musique et image. Un projet à la teneur particulièrement féminine au service de trois solos pour danseuses exceptionnelles. Pour ce chantier, phase préparatoire de la création, Joanne Leighton présente quelques extraits du solo interprété par Marie-Françoise Garçia sur une musique de Michael Jarrell, confronté aux images de Riaan Van Jaarsveldt. Oscillations entre apparition/disparition, musique/image, passé et présent confèrent à ce chantier un caractère novateur plus que bienvenu.

It was in 2001 that Joanne Leighton met famous violinist Hae Sun Kang, the preferred interpreter of Pierre Boulez. From that time on a long and fruitful dialogue has grown between the two artists, and their dream of working together on an artistic project has now become a reality with the “triangle project”. This is a musical and choreographed project, completed by the digital projections of the young video artist Riaan van Jaarsveldt who explores the human body in movement, casting a more concentrated eye on forms and structures rendered imperceptible by the action of time. The female universe of this creation brings together three exceptional dancers for three solos, each accompanied by a piece of contemporary music by living composers interpreted by Hae Sun Kang.

Joanne Leighton’s choreographic work makes references to processes and ideas from a range of different artistic disciplines, such as architecture, the plastic arts and others. The confrontation of the “image” with the physical presence of the violinist and the dancer on the stage highlights the relationships between space, dynamics and time. Oscillations between “appearing/disappearing”, “ live music/image”, “past/present”.
