In the wake of In The Wind of Time, Isabella Soupart has signed up to a creation inspired by one of Shakespeare's most symbolic plays. In this production Hamlet is launched into a world governed by media moguls, a world shaped by Antonioni's cinema, by Japanese film and the like.
Drawing on literature, film, music and dance, the Brussels director-choreographer has distilled a work that is eminently hers, a visual, spatial and sound universe all of her own. Extracts of interviews and conversation intensify this vision of a super-media world under surveillance. With a live rock music score, the actor-dancers collide with the machinery of power, the violence of love, madness and destruction. Hamlet revisited.

Après In The Wind of Time, Isabella Soupart signe une création inspirée de l’une des œuvres emblématiques de Shakespeare. Hamlet est ici projeté dans un monde régi par les puissances médiatiques, empreint de l’univers cinématographique d’Antonioni, du cinéma japonais… Puisant dans la littérature, le cinéma, la musique et la danse, la metteuse en scène et chorégraphe bruxelloise en distille une écriture propre, un univers visuel, spatial et sonore éminemment personnel. Des fragments de témoignages et d’interviews intensifient cette vision d’un monde hypermédiatisé, placé sous surveillance. Sur fond de musique rock interprétée en direct, les acteurs-danseurs se heurtent aux mécanismes du pouvoir, à la violence de l’amour, à la folie et à la destruction. Hamlet « revisited ».
